In the 21.century the information and the need of it has changed rapidly and the countries have turned to the concept of world citizenship from individualism. For this reason, they’ve believed they had to train the students to bring up them as world citizens who think critically, have good communication skills and success in the life.Thinking critically,in the academic sense, involves having good reading skills, being open-minded,using judgement and discipline to process what you are learning about without letting your personal bias or opinion detract from the arguments. It involves being rational and aware of your own feelings on the subject – being able to reorganise your thoughts, prior knowledge and understanding to accommodate new ideas. As it’s very clear that critical reading is the first step that feeds the critical thinking, they’re the very foundations of true learning and personal development. We are 5 partners (Finland,Turkey,Poland,Portugal,Romania)having less-achievement in our students’ reading skills depending on their grades from some exams they have to take, want to coalesce on a common purpose to solve this problem. In this 2 years- project we aim to increase our students’ reading skills by teaching them what critical reading is,how it’s related with critical thinking and how much critical thinking affects their school success and whole life.We aim to help their personal development by providing them related activities in which they’ll participate actively. We know that our target group, aged between 14 and 19,uses technological devices such as smartphones and computers frequently so we aim to integrate the ICT tools into this period to help them to gain digital reading addiction. Moreover,we aim to spread this attitude to the lower grades so that we will also train them in terms of peer.
